{"id":7171,"date":"2018-12-10T09:39:28","date_gmt":"2018-12-10T08:39:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/grancaffegambrinus.com\/the-secrets-of-umberto-i-gallery\/"},"modified":"2022-07-04T15:01:16","modified_gmt":"2022-07-04T13:01:16","slug":"the-secrets-of-umberto-i-gallery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/grancaffegambrinus.com\/en\/the-secrets-of-umberto-i-gallery\/","title":{"rendered":"The secrets of Umberto I Gallery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Umberto I gallery in<strong> Naples<\/strong> located near the famous <strong>shopping street, via Toledo<\/strong>, is certainly one of the architectural emblems that enrich our city even more in history, making it unique in the world.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>A timeless architectural beauty<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>The gallery,<\/strong> a mammoth<strong> glass and iron<\/strong> structure i<strong>n Art Nouveau style<\/strong>, was built<strong> in 1887<\/strong> and inaugurated for the first time in <strong>1890th,<\/strong> after an extensive urban reclamation work that involved the area of<strong> \u201d\u2039\u201d\u2039Santa Brigida begun in 1885.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The ambitious project, was strongly desired by the engineer<strong> Emanuele Rocco, Antonio Curri and Ernesto di Mauro<\/strong> who conceived this mastodontic work intended not only to redevelop the area but also to give it a certain grandeur, a visible sign of power that lasted over time.<\/p>\n<p>Conceived with two arms that intersect on the famous streets of San <strong>Carlo, Santa Brigida<\/strong>, <strong>Via Toledo and Via Verdi<\/strong>, the gallery houses the famous<strong> Belle Epoque<\/strong> theater, that is t<strong>he\u00a0 Margherita salon<\/strong>, what once was the most important <strong>cultural salon<\/strong> of Naples that in the first half of the twentieth century welcomed prominent personalities such as:<strong> Matilde Serao, Salvatore Di Giacomo, Gabriele D&#8217;Annunzio, Roberto Bracco, Ferdinando Russo, Eduardo Scarfoglio and Francesco Crispi.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What differentiates the Galleria Umberto I from all the others in the city is certainly its mysterious aspect.
